Manchester Digital Big Chip awards in today’s (Manchester) Guardian

leave a comment »

For 14 years now the web developers, designers, marketeers and social media experts from across the north have been marking their presence and achievements with the annual awards ceremony that’s become a firm fixture in the digital calender.

Last night’s event in Manchester seemed busier than ever as the creators of a diverse range of products and projects took to the stage to take a bow.

And there was no doom and economic gloom evident in this sector – organisers saw a record number of submissions, with 261 entries from across 152 digital and creative organisations and freelancers.

“It’s been such a fantastic year for the Big Chip Awards” said Chair of Manchester Digital, Shaun Fensom, “with digital organisations from right across the North of England from Liverpool to Newcastle stepping up to be recognised for their achievements, and providing us with the strongest shortlist to date – as well as a record number of entries.”

Good to see our IBZL partners Manchester Digital getting some national coverage from the Guardian for their Big Chip awards. It’s a bit of a shame, though, to see it under the ‘Northerner Blog’ headline. Maybe they’ll need follow the Guardian and drop the ‘Manchester’ before they’re thought of as sigificant to those in the South East. ‘The Digital’ does have a certain ring to it, though.
